Our methodologically-driven program combines collective and individual empowerment. Each community’s individual characteristics are analyzed to identify strengths, weaknesses, risks and collective assets, using social cartography tools, historical analysis, among others.
Our training centers on popular teaching methods organized around motivating peers through common interests; the formation of agents of change; educational dialogue; and hands-on learning. Taking into account their rights as victims (individual as well as collective-repair rights), their accountability and attention routes, we meticulously foresee scenarios that might result in relapse through public policy-monitoring mechanisms. If working with indigenous groups, our training focuses on strengthening assets such as identity and culture, territory and government.
An appraisal of the social and communal context is made to firmly establish opportunity areas, especially those related to the institutions overseeing their rights are respected.
Community action plans are constructed around the formalization and implementation of political impact strategies.
Within each action plan or specific task, Dextro manages specific duties on gender issues (women empowerment workshops –including resiliency programs—and men groups to disengage sexist attitudes that promote violence against women) along with youth associations that prevent recruitment through early development of vocational skills and resourceful use of free time. Dextro also boosts the robust strengthening of underrepresented groups (youth and women; self-protection groups).
